Most organizations can tell you what they do. They may even tell you how they do it. But only a few companies can articulate why they do what they do. Juris Medicus stands apart as one of these businesses. Its founder, Dr. Gilbert R. Meadows, established the why when he founded Juris Medicus in 2011, and he not only remains passionate about its mission, but he has also gathered a team with the same zeal.
“I wanted to put together a group of experts who knew how to recognize truth and to expound upon it. I wanted to bring to the legal community a group of medical professionals who desire, in every case, to tell the truth.”
A decade later, Dr. Meadows remains faithful to his mission. “I want to gather a team who will step up to the plate and tell the truth 100 percent of the time!”
Dr. Meadows sets the bar high for his team of business professionals and physicians. Born in New Jersey and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, he completed his undergraduate work at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at Naval Regional Medical Center (NRMC) in Portsmouth, VA. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained spinal surgeon, Dr. Meadows founded South Texas Spinal Clinic and initiated the development of the South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital in San Antonio.
During his nearly four decades in practice, Dr. Meadows became well acquainted with the legal aspect of medicine. He combined his love of people, his interest in the legal field, and his passion to recognize and articulate truth, and founded Juris Medicus. He also credits partners, Mark Johnson and Shaun Kennedy, with helping him build the business, and he praises his team of employees and experts.
Dr. Meadows becomes emotional when describing the “outstanding group of people” with whom he has chosen to work. “Their mantra is quest for the truth. They’re people who care, people who get involved, people who roll up their sleeves and do their job, and don’t whine.”
Commenting on the challenge of running a successful medical expert and legal services firm, Dr. Meadows says, “Work does not scare me; I’ve been working hard since I was a little kid. I thrive on work and interaction with people. I like what I’m doing and plan to keep doing it for quite a while.”
What’s in the future for Juris Medicus as an organization?
“We’re working on growth, and facing the challenge to make it happen. It’s fun. It’s exciting!”
Dr. Meadows and the team at Juris Medicus know their why. They combine an effective data-gathering process with the expertise of well-vetted medical professionals. Above all, they remain committed to “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,” serving their clients with passion and integrity.
